What I've Been Up To

Yeah so its been entirely too long since I've blogged, I'm aware of that, and I do apologize. I've been busy with so many different projects. But now that I'm here, let me tell you about ALL of them. lol. So first as you know I've been working on Nuff Said for only God knows how long. The project has had a million different release dates, so I'm not puttin an official release date on it until we're about two weeks away. In the meantime tho, I did come out with another mixtape this summer, just a short prelude to "Nuff Said." The mixtape was entitled "All I've Ever Known." I'll post it on the blog once I'm finished with this post. I've also changed the name of "Nuff Said" to "Nuff Said:The Epitome." I did that because I've literally come to love every track on this mixtape and although its been taking so long to come out with this mixtape, I have continued writing this whole time. Aside from the 11 tracks that are on "All I've Ever Known," "NS:TE" has grown from 15 to 21 to 25 to 28 tracks long. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a couple bonus tracks. So yeah I've been talkin about this mixtape for like 4 years now but its not like I've been workin on these couple of songs for this whole time, its more like recording issues or management issues so in the meantime I just kept writing. I had to split ways with a couple different people I've been working with as it wasn't good for business or for my ministry but I do wish them the best in the future. But when God closes one door He opens another so while I'm not recording with the same producer I once was, I am working with an equal great producer who is also not only about business, but about our Father's business. And thus my mixtape is back in the works. I have had to privilege to open up for Young Joshua from Cross Movement Records, as well as R-Swift. I've been building alot of hype around my mixtape and I truly hope that you love it as much as I do. I'm in the process of getting signed to "Stric'ly Jesus Records" and I'm hoping to come out with my first LP this summer entitled "Walk This Way." I really want to work with Mali Music, PJ Morton, Amber Bullock, Crystal Aikin, and/or Da Truth. We'll see what happens, only God knows the future. I've posted my music on several different websites now, datpiff.com and bandcamp.com. I'm also working with z180 radio and rapzilla.com I've taken the stresses of this mixtape as God truly testing my patience, making sure that I'm in this industry for the right reasons, and making sure that I'm not a hypocrite. So I've been working with myself to make sure that I'm "practicing what I preach." I'm not Saint, not perfect in the least bit, but daily I am striving to be more like my Lord. So I guess in ending, I should probably tell you I'm leaking a track from the mixtape or promoting the mixtape every weekend until the mixtape comes out, the first installment was released today. Be Blessed. Jus Chris.

Studio Time!

Just left one studio, only to come to another one. Yes, the album is literally on its way. I just came from one studio recorded 4 tracks from the album. They'll be mixed down later this week. Now I'm in the studio with my Exec. Producer, C. Duncs, just watching him go to work and im amazed everytime like real talk. No homo but im glad I met him. This dude is nice with it. We're working on the first single, "Heaven." I'm pretty sure that will be released this week. Hopefully on Thursday. Thats my plan. If he finishes sometime tonight and then we record it between tonight and tomorrow we can def get that out there on Thursday. But imma record "Heaven" and "The Rain" with him sometime this week. I just recorded "Allow Me To Introduce Myself," "Y.E.S.," "Don't Stop" and "I'm Here." I'll be in the studio all week. 20% of the album is done already. I'm thinking we should be 50% done by the end of the week. I hate that we waited till the last minute to get serious but you gotta remember we college students. lol. Anyways, Nuff Said is coming! But looking at Kirk Franklin's tweets. I have to make sure that one thing is for certain in making this project. I don't want any glory. I mean subconsciously my human nature wants credit, but God is still working with me. I don't want any of the credit. I don't want to be seen through this music. I want to change lives. I want to bring people closer to God. I write music for two reasons, firstly because I want to grow in God and I feel this is my outlet to minister while being ministered to. Like I'll write something that I myself am not living but want to live and God will check me on it. I'm growing as I write. Secondly, because I love music. PERIOD. Anyways, be on the lookout for the album. Pray for me as I will pray for you. Be blessed.

More Progress

If only you knew everything that happens behind the scenes in the process of making music. So my producer's studio was shut down. Why? Because supposedly his speakers were too loud, and well I live in a dorm. So the dean said its a wrap on those. But because I serve a good God, my friend, Jolly, got me into the studio at the school. The REAL studio. So i should be recording there. At least the majority of the album. Next problem. My producer has a girlfriend. And clearly she takes priority. The first single is made but instrumental is not and thats really all we're waiting for. I have 8 songs left to write. Only two of them haven't been started on. If worse comes to worse as long as I have all of my instrumentals i will record with the same mic I used for the last tape. Point is. This album has been pushed back long enough. We are coming out with "Nuff Said."4.19.11, Special Shoutouts to Vani B and Jolly for coming thru clutch. Last things, I've heard a couple bars from various artists, who are suppose to be on "Soldier." Good stuff. Trust me. Kirk Franklin's new album "Hello Fear" came out two days ago. I bought it the day it came out. I'm excited. period. Be Blessed.

Recording?

Good Morning good people. Its been quite a week. I was on spring break all week, so I gotta lotta work done. Especially concerning the mixtape. As far away as it sounds I only have 10 songs left to write. Yeah I know, but remember its 25 tracks altogether. Besides of those 10 songs, only 6 of them I haven't started on. My producer, C. Duncs is really what I waiting on. Because we can start recording this week. I'm tryna be finished recording at least by April 12th, so I can have one full week to just format the songs and make sure everything about the mixtape is exactly how I want it and so I can get it out on time. Anyways, I just finished writing for "I'm Here,": and my verse for "My Imagination." I'm kinda surprised in myself because I usually don't like alot of people featured on my mixtapes just beacuse Idk if some people have the same vision as me but it turns out there are alot of people who feel like gospel lyricism is an art of sorts that most people have slept on. So yeah with all these like minded people it only makes sense I would make music with them. So theres about 5 or 6 tracks that have people featured on them, including one supertrack that has about 8 guest appereances. Unfortunately noone for OH MY is on the album, just because we couldn't get any of them in the studio. But Fehann is working on the logo for Oh My. That will probably be on the mixtape cover. Check out Simple N Splashy and Akata, Inc, these are the two upcoming clothing lines that are sponsoring the mixtape. Keep us in prayer, as we continue this journey. Thats all I got for now. Peace.

More about Everything

I think I'm getting better, Its only been 3 weeks since my last post. Anyways, I haven't actually recorded anything yet, other than the unofficial first single, "Eyes Wide Closed." I did record Misinterpretation, but we are redoing that track so yeah..... However, the majority of the mixtape is already written. I only have about 5 or 6 songs left to actually write for. At this point its just matching beats, and such. The tracklisting is out, I'll post that up in a second. The full tracklisting will be out once I figure out who all I want on this track "Soldier." But there is a woman by the name of Tinisha , at my school who is an amazing alto, and she has agreed to sing on a track. As well as my good friend, Street Light, whose label I almost ended up signing with. I did two different guest appearences on his album. But yeah I added a few new tracks to the list. A poem, two "singing" songs, and 2 more "rapping" songs. I'm currently working on "Gospel Lyricism II," "I Win, I Lose," and "Signs of The Times." That last one is the one Tinisha will be on. Very chill vibe to that one. I think you guys will really enjoy this project. I just want to put this out there that my producer is a beast. Like Christopher Duncanson is a genius when he puts his fingers to those keys. I thank God I met him, no homo. lol. Anyways, I gotta get back to doing what I do. The first official single will be, "Heaven." Although, its a song i came out with like 3 mixtapes ago, its being reinvented. I knew I wanted it as a single but I didn't want to put it as my first single, but because I love this mixtape so much there are just too many tracks that I just couldn't bare to let you hear before the entire project came out. And then there are a few that just aren't "single" material. Anyways, just thought I give you guys an update on the mixtape. Stay blessed, and pray for me, as I will for you. Peace. *sidenote* Kirk Franklin's next album drops March 22nd! "Hello Fear." That man is a genius, in ALL senses of the word.

Beginning Stages. *Nuff Said*

So I wrote my first full "singing" song this weekend, "The Rain." My boy, Christopher Duncanson is a monster producer. He produced the song. He's also singing on it as well as my friend, J. Nole. We should be recording that sometime this week. I'm also working on a song called "Daydreams and Nightmares" produced by my friend Ti. And another song, that I haven't titled yet produced my my friend JC. There's a few different producers on the album, Christopher Duncanson is the main producer tho. But those 3 songs are the ones I'm working on currently. I don't think I'll release any of them as singles tho. We'll see how they play out tho. I have at least another 5 songs completely written. Just working on production at this point. Man am I glad I met this dude Chris. Be blessed.
